Lectures & Labs is an international mobile-app learning library.
Every topic in the library is a Hybrid Mobile App and is founded on Mastery Learning, an instructional strategy that allows students to master a single topic before moving on to the next level of topics in a subject.
Lectures & Labs is a Hybrid Mobile App networking system of Home Screen Media, LLC.
About Mastery Learning
Lectures & Labs
allows learners to focus on fully understanding and mastering a topic within a subject or concept before moving on to the next sequential topic. The key points about learning one topic at a time include:
Suitable for Beginners
Learning about a new subject, especially a complex one, by focusing on its individual sequential topics can provide a more solid foundation for a subject.
Reduced Cognitive Overload
By concentrating on a smaller group of topics for a single subject, learners minimize the mental strain of juggling multiple subjects at once, which can be beneficial for understanding complex topic
inter-relationships.

We use Hybrid Mobile Apps for our topical network. They use standard web technologies (i.e., HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) and all service requests to the Platform API are mirrored by a cross-platform JavaScript API. When a web site is ramped up with new technologies making it faster and more effective, the web pages (Hybrid Mobile Apps) immediately benefit from those same technologies.
Nothing needs to be downloaded from an app store!

Juergen Bluhm

adds a unique focus to Lectures & Labs as a veteran in the science of Eye-Tracking.
His early exploration of the possibilities of this unique science was in market research, advertising, and in packaging design which connected him to clients like The Procter & Gamble Company, Unilever Global, and Nestlé. His work with commercial clients and their eye-tracking projects led him to become interested in eye-tracking for learning evaluation and improvement.
He now helps universities establish testing labs to conduct research focused on student learning and provides training and workshops for faculty teams. He also offers a Moodle course in Eye-Tracking for academic institutions www.eye-tracking-research.org so students, lab personnel, and faculty can broaden their knowledge base for eye-tracking to assist in student development.
As learning everywhere becomes more visual – and visuals become more complex – his knowledge of this unique science will help guide the formatting of the topical learning units for Lectures & Labs.

Richard L. Austin
Emeritus Professor of Agronomy & Horticulture at The University of Nebraska – Lincoln
is the creator and lead administrator of the Lectures & Labs program.
He is an extensively published author in Landscape Architecture, and his textbook “The Elements of Planting Design” (Wiley, 2005) was translated from English into Arabic, and Simplified Chinese because of the presentation of unique and innovative approaches to design.
His career-long interest in teaching methodologies for students dealing with cognitive overload from traditional teaching methods and for students with learning disabilities was the impetus for his journey toward the Lectures & Labs Mobile App Learning Library concept.
In 2019, he served as the team lead for the creation of the progressive web-app software function that converts web pages into mobile apps.
